Winter Fun

Last Tuesday night we went up to the vieux village because we heard that St. Nicolas was going to be there.  The mayor was there as everyone gathered and he gave a little speech before they turned on all the Christmas lights at once!

Then they started blowing "snow" out of these machines (you can see one behind us on the left).  It added to the ambience of the winter scene as St. Nicolas wandered around. He was by far the scrawniest, shortest St. Nicolas I've ever seen.

They were handing out free hot chocolate and hot wine (ick) - until they ran out of cups!  They didn't run out of beverage, so if you just happen to have a cup on you you could get some.  I didn't think to stuff any paper cups in my purse before we went out, so instead we went to "Le Petit Fouet" (the little whip) restaurant for some cocoa.

The kids were totally riled up, and they were making the bird that lives on the first floor go crazy.  The resto wasn't opened for dinner yet, so luckily we were the only people there.

Everyone got their own mug, with whipped cream on the side.

Things calmed down after that, thank goodness!

Carter said his was "disgusting" because it was actually real chocolate (not a mix with sugar already added), so he thought it was too bitter, even after adding sugar.  Silly boy!

Two more days of school then it's winter break for two weeks - I must start a list of things to do with the kids because Dave is going to be in London a lot.
